| What are the differences between 18/10, 18/0, 13/0 steel?

18/10
On many of products you will see a marking “18-10” either by etching or by deep stamp marking. This indicates the type of steel the product is made of known as “Chrome-Nickel” steel. The composition (content) of steel must be within the tolerances according European standards, where 18(%) indicates the percentage of Chromium and 10(%) the percentage of Nickel. A good combination of the advantage of Chrome (corrosion resistance) and the brightness of Nickel. he qualities of 18/10 steel ensure that products are not prone to corrosion and have a high sheen (when care instructions are followed).
18(%) indicates the percentage of Chromium and 0 means without Nickel (still with high corrosion resistance)
13(%) indicates the percentage of Chromium and 0 means without Nickel (still with good corrosion resistance) Knife blades are made of a different type of steel named high(er) carbon knife steel. This type of steel can be hardened and re-shaped when needed. An advantage which ensures the sharpness and durability of the knife blades for a longer period of time. |
